Hello, I am a German biologist and writer. I live in Hamburg with a bewildering number of animals and plants.

My books have been published by Eichborn, Goldmann and Reclam. They also have been translated into several languages.. My debut novel Marianengraben was published in 2020, and since then novels and non-fiction books have followed at regular intervals.

I used to be an illustrator and photographer, but somehow I'm still both. Oh, and I have a German science podcast.

I am also still a scientist, doing research on rove beetles, Staphylinidae, in Dagmara Żyła's group at the University of Hamburg.
